Description
Introduced in 2022.The huia was a beautiful distinct extinct endemic NZ wattlebird that the last confirmed sighing was in1907. The huia were almost always found in a male, female pair. A Maori male's oral history recall "I was told by my old people that a pair of huia lived on the most affectionate terms. If the male died first, the female died soon after of grief". It is said the huia was bold and inquisitive and had no fear of people so could easily be captured by hand.
