New Zealand, Hanging Birds, Hanging NZ Sparkly Decorations

Description

The Piwakwaka is endemic to New Zealand. There are four sub-species. North Island Fantail (common), South Island Fantail (common), Chatham Island Fantail (naturally uncommon), Lord Howe Island Fantail (extinct). The Piwakawaka will follow walkers in forests and parks, the Piwakawaka chases the tiny insects that the walkers have disturbed. It is a much-loved NZ bird but is not often seen in cities as it is shy of loud noises. This sparkly decoration is of the most commonly found pied morph (colour form). There are two morphs of the Piwakawaka, pied morph and the black morph which only accounts for 5% of the South Island population and rarely found in the North Island.

The Piwakawaka won New Zealand Bird of the Year in 2006. Voting is in apx October/November every year and is always an exciting and heavily competed contest.

This Piwakawaka sparkly decoration was introduced in 2024.

This decoration is made of fabric, sequins, beads and coloured metallic threads. It is nice and light for posting. If you need to send them internationally, we can do it for you. Handy information - The cost to send up to 10x sparkly NZ decorations to the same international address is the same as sending 1x.
